Scottsdale Public Art Opportunities

CANAL CONVERGENCE WATER + ART + LIGHT – November 5–14, 2021

Description: 
Canal Convergence is an annual signature event featuring large-scale interactive artworks by local and international artists, along with hands-on activities, live music, and performances.

Needs:  

  • Volunteers for activities located along the Scottsdale Waterfront.

Training:  
Training will be provided on site when volunteers report for their shifts. 

 

 

Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts
Ongoing Opportunities

Concierge Program

Description:  
This position greets the public at a variety of events and performances, sells memberships, and gives information and directions while helping promote Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts’ programs.

Needs:  

  • Outgoing, reliable individuals who are willing to learn new information on a regular basis.

Requirements:  
2–3-hour shifts, professional attire, outgoing personality.

Concierge and Volunteer Training:
Both the volunteer and concierge training sessions must be completed before any concierge duties are carried out.


 

Usher Program

Description: 

Ushers are expected to scan tickets, know the safety procedures of the theater, and maintain order while greeting and directing patrons to their seats during events.

Needs:  

  • Ushers for presented and rental events to work 3–4 hour shifts, mostly nights and weekends.

Requirements:  
Must be able to walk up and down stairs, operate in dimly lit conditions, and read small print on tickets. Must be professional, reliable, and courteous.

Must attend volunteer training


 

Wrist-banding Volunteers

Description:  
Volunteers interested in helping at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts before performances will help put on wristbands for patrons that show proof of negative COVID-19 tests or vaccination records to enter performance spaces. There will be no cash/card handling.

Needs:

  • Helping put wristbands on patrons for their entrance into performances.
  • Work with Scottsdale Arts Protection Services staff or security company staff to maintain a good flow of traffic for patrons coming to performances.
  • Will come into contact with patrons’ wrist area when putting on small wristbands.

General Training Sessions:

Training will be provided on site when volunteers report for their shifts. 


 

Artist Merchandise Sales

Description:  
Volunteers interested in helping sell performers’ and artists’ merchandise during performances at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts would socialize and help sell the merchandise. Volunteers will be handling cash or card transactions using an iPad and will be required to stay an hour before the show starts and 30 minutes after the show ends.

Needs:

  • Training on the iPad-based card system and help counting cash out at the end of the show.
  • Help set up items on the table (usually outside of the theater) and help with take down.
  • Socializing with our amazing performance and event attendees to make sure they have a great experience before they leave for the night.

Requirements:  
Shifts vary depending on artist(s). Volunteers are expected to stay throughout the entire show unless stated otherwise. Must be comfortable handling money and credit cards.

The Store @ the Center

Retail Volunteers

Description:  
Volunteers interested in helping in the The Store @ Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts during events would socialize with event attendees and help them find items in the store. This position will not deal with cash or cards and will be required to help an hour before the shows up to after intermission (if any).

Needs:

  • Helping patrons try on jewelry and locate other items in the store.
  • Working with retail staff to maintain a good flow of traffic in the store.
  • Socializing with our amazing performance and event attendees to make sure they have a great experience.

Must attend volunteer training.


 

Member and Patrons Services

Box Office Volunteer

Description:  
A volunteer is needed to assist the box office with will-call tickets in advance of performances.

Needs:  

  • Must be able to read tickets quickly and efficiently to keep the will-call lines short.
