Meet the Scottsdale Public Art Team: Talia

Talia Ghaffari is the executive assistant for Scottsdale Public Art. Get to know Talia through the Q&A below.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

My professional roots stem from the music industry, however, my appreciation for the arts is widespread across all types. I’m enjoying working in public art because it provides the opportunity to bring art and artists into new spaces and environments that contrast traditional experiences like galleries and museums.

What duties does the Scottsdale Public Art executive assistant have?

My duties include handling the day-to-day operations of my team, as well as assisting with the logistics of our annual large-scale event Canal Convergence.

What does public art mean to you?

Public art represents community, connection, and creativity to me, which are matters that are constantly in flux. Public art stands out in that it offers opportunities for learning, growth, and coming together for artists and our community while introducing artists and their art into new spaces.

How did you get into the field of public art, and what led you to this career?

My professional experience lends itself to running the day-to-day operations of my small business in the music industry. That experience has allowed comfortability for me in administrative/operational roles. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Scottsdale Public Art process and one of the largest events in Scottsdale, as it is a compelling experience and has been a fresh start in my career. It is wonderful to be part of an amazing and cohesive team.

What do you do in your free time?

I enjoy working on my music and paddleboarding outside of work.
