You don’t need to know anything about jazz to enjoy a Paquito D’Rivera show. You certainly don’t need to be a musical expert. You just need to like being in a room where something real is happening.
A Paquito D’Rivera concert is about joy. It’s about color, rhythm, and pure stage presence. It's the kind of performance that makes you smile. From Latin jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms to fiery bebop and tango-infused chamber works, D’Rivera’s music is vibrant and celebratory.
Come out. Bring someone. Let the night surprise you.
About the Artist
Born in Havana, Cuba, Paquito D’Rivera began studying music with his father, Tito Rivera, at age 5 and was performing publicly by age 7. The clarinetist, saxophonist, composer, and author is now an NEA Jazz Master and recipient of the National Medal of Arts with 16 Grammys and Latin Grammys and more than 40 solo albums to his name. He's collaborated with a dazzling range of artists and ensembles, from Yo-Yo Ma to the London Philharmonic. His ensembles have toured the globe. And his catalog includes commissions from the Library of Congress, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and ensembles like Imani Winds.
