Whether she’s singing favorite swinging jazz standards, playing one of eleven instruments (including trumpet, trombone, harmonica, oboe, harp, flute, recorder, and jazz bagpipe!), or juggling and tap dancing, Swedish sensation Gunhild Carling’s sublime splendor shines. Regularly including vintage classics like “Minnie the Moocher,” “Sweet Georgia Brown,” “All of Me,” and “It Had to Be You” in her seemingly endless repertoire of songs, the frequent Postmodern Jukebox collaborator masterfully transports audiences to another era, like a musical time machine. And just wait for the finale—spoiler alert—she plays three trumpets at once!
About the Artist
Gunhild Carling competed in 2014 as a celebrity dancer on TV4’s Let’s Dance, placing third, and was also on Sweden’s Dancing with the Stars. In 2017, she performed for Sweden’s Got Talent and in 2019 on America’s Got Talent. She played with her Carling Big Band at the Royal Palace in Stockholm in celebration of King Carl XVI Gustaf's Ruby Jubilee. Between tours with her own band, Carling performs in several configurations, from solo to orchestra to symphony. She is also a featured singer and multi-instrumentalist on several of Postmodern Jukebox's songs, including a 1920s jazz swing version of “Material Girl” and a 1920s hot jazz cover of ABBA's “Dancing Queen.”
