About the Artist
With her signature deadpan delivery, impeccable timing, and pithy one-liners, Rudner has delighted audiences for decades, cementing her status as one of comedy’s most beloved voices. A Las Vegas powerhouse, Rudner's record-breaking residency sold nearly 2 million tickets and earned her the title of Las Vegas Comedian of the Year nine years in a row! She has thrice filled Carnegie Hall and headlined specials for HBO, Showtime, the BBC, and even PBS.
At 15 years old, Rudner moved to New York to become a dancer on Broadway, but the Manhattan comedy clubs soon caught her attention. In the early 1980s, she took a leap from chorus lines to punchlines, leading to regular stand-up gigs on late-night TV. Beyond comedy, Rudner is a best-selling author, acclaimed screenwriter, and award-winning actress. She frequently collaborates with her writer/producer husband of thirty years, Martin Bergman (Peter’s Friends, A Weekend in the Country). She helped write the 2001 and 2003 Academy Awards broadcasts and, in 2003, launched her first syndicated daily TV show, Ask Rita.
