Marc Broussard’s soulful groove is smooth, but there’s a bit of rock ’n’ roll grit in there too. Incorporating funk, blues, and R&B into his fiery performances, the acclaimed singer-songwriter brings ...
Unmatched skill. Unbridled energy. Unparalleled joy. That’s a Punch Brothers show in six words.
Wielding the five instruments of traditional bluegrass—mandolin, banjo, fiddle, guitar, and bass—Punch Brothers both embrace and transcend genre customs, expanding their sound to include everything from alt rock covers to classical pieces and delivering each with a mix of playfulness and technical precision.
Featuring current and former members of Nickel Creek, Leftover Salmon, The Infamous Stringdusters, Crooked Still, and Hawktail, Punch Brothers appeal to fans of Béla Fleck, I'm With Her, Watchhouse, Mighty Poplar, and Alison Krauss & Union Station. And this will be mandolinist Chris Thile’s second show at the Center this year, following his spectacular solo concert back in February.
The quintet’s impassioned, generous performances are filled with a frenzied vitality that creates an elegant, yet dynamic presentation of sound that builds from strength to strength. London Jazz News calls it “the kind of music that is made to be heard, seen, experienced live. ... An excellent showcase of the kaleidoscope of sounds, textures, colours and emotions you can create with 5 stringed instruments and a lot of soul.”

About the Artists
A virtuosic quintet featuring mandolinist Chris Thile, guitarist Chris Eldridge, bassist Paul Kowert, banjoist Noam Pikelny, and violinist Brittany Haas, Punch Brothers, formed in 2006. Known for pushing the boundaries of acoustic music, the band has garnered critical acclaim, including a Grammy for Best Folk Album for All Ashore (2018). The Washington Post applauded them for taking “bluegrass to its next evolutionary stage, drawing equal inspiration from the brain and the heart.” Over the years, they’ve become pioneers in modern string music, with albums like Antifogmatic (2010), Who’s Feeling Young Now (2012), and The Phosphorescent Blues (2015), showcasing their genre-defying sound. Rolling Stone praised their work as “wild virtuosity used for more than just virtuosity,” cementing their reputation as trailblazers in contemporary acoustic music. Most recently, Punch Brothers have been focused on their new musical variety show, The Energy Curfew Music Hour, with seasons one and two available on Audible and all podcasting platforms.
Punch Brothers have partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 per ticket goes to supporting organizations working for equity, access, and dignity for all.
