About Trampled by Turtles
In addition to major bluegrass and folk festivals, Trampled by Turtles has also played ACL and Farm Aid and toured with artists as diverse as Lord Huron, Shakey Graves, Caamp, and Deer Tick. Frontman Dave Simonett initially formed the band in Duluth, Minnesota, after losing most of his musical equipment to a car burglary. Hence, Trampled by Turtles takes inspiration from bluegrass, folk, and other genres that don’t rely on amplification, even though Simonett hadn't played bluegrass before, and he filled his lineup with other newcomers to the genre, including fiddler Ryan Young (who'd previously played drums in a speed metal act) and bassist Tim Saxhaug. Along with mandolinist Erik Berry and banjo player Dave Carroll, the group began carving out a fast, frenetic sound that owed as much to rock ’n’ roll as bluegrass. The band released its first album, Songs from a Ghost Town, in 2004, but it wasn't until the band's fourth release, Duluth (2008), that Trampled by Turtles received recognition by the bluegrass community.
About Wild Horses
Hailing from the Minnesota woods, Wild Horses find inspiration for their rootsy Americana sound from the people and places found along the great American Highway. Sharing the stage with the likes of Willie Nelson, Trampled by Turtles, Muscadine Bloodline, and Wilco, they draw listeners in with captivating melodies, hard-hitting drive, and a palpable stage presence. Featuring Jed LaPlant on vocals/guitar/kick drum, Ariana LaPlant on vocals/fiddle/keys, and Landon Pahl on vocals/bass, Wild Horses have shaped a sound that incorporates heartbreaking vocals, standout harmonies, and explosive dynamics.
$1 of every ticket will be donated to an artist-chosen charity Backline Care.
