About the Artists
For more than three decades, Mariachi Sol de México® de José Hernández has broken countless barriers in mariachi music, becoming the first mariachi ensemble to be nominated for a Grammy, playing in sold-out halls from Madison Square Garden to Beijing, and performing for five U.S. presidents, from Ronald Reagan to Barack Obama. The group has made its mark through Hernandez's innovative arrangements, fusing diverse styles of music to create the group’s original rhythms, fresh sounds, and inspiring ideas. A graceful blend of classical, pop, jazz, swing, and Broadway tunes, Hernández’s organic, irreverent renditions have become instant classics.
