Benise (pronounced "Buh-nes-say") shattered the mold of Spanish guitar by combining world music and dance—the only show of its kind! Armed with his Spanish guitar and a stage full of musicians and ela...
A new work commissioned by Scottsdale Arts. Original music composed by Imogen Heap. Inspired by Bessel van derk Kolk’s book The Body Keeps the Score.
Los Angeles-based Jacob Jonas The Company returns with Nature Sounds while the IV Drips, the second work in the company’s Keeping Score trilogy. Forged by choreographer Jacob Jonas’s personal battle with cancer, the new work explores themes of endurance and survival of the human spirit through JJTC’s cinematic blend of contemporary dance, acrobatics, and street dance influences. The work grew directly from Jonas's experience with stage 4 cancer and moving through treatment, recovery, and the strange beauty of beginning again.
Program:
• Product of Divorce, featuring Antonio Sanchez
• Nature Sounds while the IV Drips
Content Advisory:
This performance includes mature depictions of trauma, violence, and nudity. It also holds moments of tenderness, love, illumination, and resilience. The work was created with care for each performer.
Nature Sounds while the IV Drips was made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts' National Dance Project, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Foundation and the Mellon Foundation.
