FRAGMENTS & THROUGHLINES: A Student Showcase of Nonfiction Video Works

Apr 29, 2026 / 6:30 p.m.

Exploring the spaces between documentary, contemporary video art, and cinema

Join us for a special screening of student artwork, exploring the spaces between documentary, contemporary video art, and cinema. This collection of short works by student artists, scientists, and filmmakers exhibits an expansive range of interdisciplinary backgrounds, life experiences, and creative interests. Archived actualities and splintered visions glimmer with the question of the “real,” resonating with rhythm, revival, and memory.

Featuring work from Alixandria Arguello-Vengoechea, Kayla Baker, Nicole Kaiser, Megan Keen, Reed Kopcik, Gianna Lombardo, JoAnn Lujan, and Grace Piontek, these films were created during the Spring of 2026 by students in the Short Subject Documentary Video class at Arizona State University’s School of Art, taught by artist, filmmaker, and curator Bradley Smith.
