Anda’s Kitchen, Ancestral Foodways and Storytelling

Learn about native plants and cultivated crops of the Southwest. Participants will receive an interactive zine with Indigenous culinary information and recipes. This workshop will also feature an audio-visual presentation of archival footage of Native American food preparation and kinship practices that celebrate food as medicine.

About Andrea Stanley

Andrea Stanley  (Diné/Haakumeh/Honduran) initiated Anda’s Kitchen as a community offering to showcase her cultural backgrounds of Southwestern Indigenous and Latin/Caribbean foods. She is a mother and doula living and working in O’Odam Jeved (Phoenix). Stanley has more than 14 years of work experience in land restoration, Indigenous food sovereignty, and birthwork as a full-spectrum doula. Her collaborative pop-up kitchen experiences celebrate the intangible cultural heritage of food as medicine and as a creative culinary practice.
