Visions '26
May 1, 2026 – Sep 13, 2026
Visions ’26 gives voice to the next generation of artists from across the Valley. Featuring 42 works by advanced high school art students, this exhibition is the culmination of a year-long mentorship ...
In the 1970s, Scottsdale experienced a cultural shift, from living up to its “West’s Most Western Town” slogan to becoming a cultural hub in the Southwest. Contemporary art galleries, such as Elaine Horwitch Galleries, Suzanne Brown Gallery, Riva Yares Gallery, and Udinotti Gallery were new on the scene and competing for the best talent. And Scottsdale Center for the Arts opened its doors in 1975 as both a venue for performances and visual art.
A Pivotal Point in Time: Art in Scottsdale in the 1970s pays homage to those artists who were part of this shift and celebrates the 50th anniversary of what is now known as Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.
Exhibited artists include: José Bermúdez , Anne Coe , Philip C. Curtis, James G Davis, Lew Davis, Geny Dignac, Dorothy Fratt, Denis Gillingwater, Ben Goo, Eugene Grigsby, Jules Heller, Bill Jay, Suzanne Klotz, Nancy Kravetz, Merrill Mahaffey, Mark McDowell, Ed Mell, David Pimentel, Genevieve Reckling, James Rome, Billy Schenk, Fritz Scholder, Beth Ames Swartz, Agnese Udinotti, and Rip Woods.
Curated by Laura Ramson Hales, independent curator for Scottsdale Arts Learning & Innovation.
