Biography

Matt McGee is an award-winning puppet designer and performer, whose work has been seen on many stages throughout the country. From high schools in California to the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, McGee has created puppets of all shapes and sizes, and enjoys experimenting with various styles and mediums, many of which utilize upcycled or easy-to-come-by resources and materials. His small but mighty production company, Matt-a-Magical, is a three-time grant recipient from the Jim Henson Foundation. A second-generation puppeteer, his work was recently seen in Childsplay Theatre's production of Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, last January, as well as his world-premiere production, Tales from the Bayou, last fall at the Great Arizona Puppet Theater, where McGee works as the director of fabrication and as one of the puppeteers.
