To Serve and Protect
Jeff Carol Davenport (b. 1958)

To Serve and Protect is a community-initiated police commemorative sculpture that exists due to the dedicated efforts of Scottsdale Police Officer Ron Gorski, who conceived of the idea and then single-handedly raised the necessary funds to commission it. Tempe’s Arizona Bronze donated foundry services for the project.
The sculpture of a policeman with a little girl clutching a doll stands in testament to the dedication, commitment, and sacrifice made by those police officers who serve and protect us each day.
Artist Jeff Carol Davenport is a longtime resident of Arizona, growing up in Mesa and Tempe. She received a bachelor of fine arts in sculpture from Northern Arizona University and a master’s degree in elementary education from Arizona State University.
