A New Partnership Guiding a Century of Creative Placemaking into an Even Brighter Future
Scottsdale Arts and Cattle Track Arts Compound have come together in a new partnership that honors the spirit of this historic space while opening new doors for community engagement. Under this collaboration, Scottsdale Arts will manage select elements of Cattle Track, supporting expanded programming and public access, while the Compound continues to operate under its own board and nonprofit trust.
Tucked alongside the Arizona Canal, Cattle Track has long been a home for working artists, architects, and creative thinkers. That legacy remains firmly in place. Current studios, residents, and The School of Architecture (formerly at Taliesin West) continue to thrive on site, while Scottsdale Arts introduces musical performances, public talks, and community events that reflect the Compound’s unique energy and creative character.
As the partnership grows, so will the possibilities. New experiences will continue to emerge from this one-of-a-kind creative haven, rooted in its independent and irreverent spirit.

A Vision That Honors the Land and Its Legacy
A long-term master plan for Cattle Track includes the addition of approximately 20,000 square feet of new art spaces across the 11-acre campus. Two new venues are already in place: an archive building that houses works by artist Philip C. Curtis alongside Ellis Family historical documents, and a historic barn relocated from Paradise Valley, now transformed into artist studios and gallery spaces.
Every addition is intentionally designed to reflect the character of Cattle Track—unpolished, authentic, and deeply rooted in the surrounding desert landscape. These spaces are not just buildings, but extensions of the Compound’s enduring creative spirit.
