About the Event
Even at its most rewarding, caregiving can be a lonely job. Join others who spend their days and nights looking after young children, aging parents, and anyone in between as we learn from one another and build community through writing and workshopping true stories. This six-week, virtual course is open to writers of all levels of experience, from beginners to veterans.
Although the workshop series is virtual and will be conducted via Zoom, participants will be invited to a staff-guided tour of the Beverly McIver: Full Circle exhibition at Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA). Participants will also read their stories in a public reading at SMoCA on March 19.
Instructor Amy Silverman is an independent journalist based in Tempe. She’s co-taught the Mothers Who Write workshop for 20 years, co-founded the storytelling series Bar Flies, and is the author of a book about her daughter, My Heart Can’t Even Believe It: A Story of Science, Love and Down Syndrome.
