Artists are struggling right now. Often when money becomes scarce, arts related programming, new artwork commissions, and art gallery sales fall through. While some may argue that art is not an essential part of living day to day, those who’ve had an art class, been to a museum, gone to a show, or even made doodles while they were bored know otherwise.
That is why during these strange and uncertain times, when people are losing jobs left and right, commissions and projects long in the works are being canceled indefinitely, there are still opportunities and assistance for artists in need.
So, if you are an artist who is struggling, or know one who is, take a look at the links below to find a little advice and hopefully some assistance.

Funding of $5,000 for individual artists of all disciplines. The fund will operate through September 2020 and will fund at least 100 artists per week. The application will be open in cycles based on these exact dates:
Cycle II: April 24 – May 21 (closes 11:59 p.m. ET)
Cycle III: May 22 – June 18 (closes 11:59 p.m. ET)
Cycle IV: June 19 – July 23 (closes 11:59 p.m. ET)
Cycle V: July 24 – August 20 (closes 11:59 p.m. ET)

Writers who meet the program’s eligibility requirements are invited to apply in one of the following categories: Articles, Books and Short-Form Writing.

Arizona Commission on the Arts – COVID-19 Resources
The Arizona Commission on the Arts is an agency of the State of Arizona whose mission is to create opportunities for all Arizonans to participate in and experience the arts. The COVID-19 Resources web page has information and links providing assistance to Arizona-based artists who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
NYFA.org Emergency Grants Listings and Rauschenberg Emergency Grants Program
New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is a nonprofit service organization that empowers working artists and emerging arts organizations across all disciplines at critical stages in their creative lives and professional/organizational development. The currently have a web page (see link above) dedicated to listing available emergency grants. Also listed on NYFA.org is the Rauschenberg Emergency Grants Program. This grant offers up to $5,000 for medical emergencies for artists.
Deadline: Review of proposals begins late May/early June.
Red Backpack Fund (For Women Entrepreneurs)
Up to 1,000 grants of $5,000 each to female entrepreneurs in the United States. Applications open on May 4, June 1, July 6, and August 3. Sign up on their email link for application alerts.
