Spread messages of joy and #ChalkYourWalk

Scottsdale Arts Learning & Innovation and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale challenge you to chalk your walk! Fill your driveways and sidewalks with drawings of positivity, encouragement, and empowerment for your neighbors to enjoy on their daily strolls. Let’s keep our communities thriving by bringing people together through our art.

Post a photo of your masterpiece and tag @ScottsdaleArts @BGCGS #ChalkYourWalk to become a part of the movement.

Chalk is allowed on all sidewalks within the Scottsdale city limits, but if you live in an HOA, you might want to check the rules first.

Don’t have chalk? You can make your own! All you need is cornstarch, water, food coloring, some mixing bowls or a muffin tin, and paintbrushes.

  • Mix equal parts of cornstarch and water until smooth.
  • Pour a little bit of the mixture into a muffin tin or small mixing bowls.
  • Add food coloring to each bit; mix until blended. Play with making different colors!
  • Apply the “chalk” to your sidewalk or driveway with a paintbrush.
